The beetle is a threat to all mature pine tree's in the Pinery. We say that not to scare you, just to give you the facts. Our arborists have seen MPB damage throughout the Pinery area and closely follow reports from the Colorado State Forester's office. There is no pine beetle cure currently. Once a tree is infested, it will lose its needles, turn red and die. You can prevent the beetle by applying a treatment to the mature pine before July. That is the only way to prevent an infestation. ArborScape doesn't advocate trying to save every pine tree in Colorado. The beetle is part of a natural cycle. However, it is possible to save high profile, high value pine trees.
