ArborScape Removes Downed Tree in Littleton

You may have seen this tree laying across Windemere Ave. last night on the evening news. We received the call at about 4:00 PM and David Merriman and his crew were there in about 15 minutes.

Luckily no one was injured.

Our arborists were speculating that it was likely bacteria wetwood, also known as cytospora canker, a fungus that affects Colorado trees. The tree was a cottonwood which are known for the copious amounts of water they consume. If a cottonwood gets cytospora canker, symptoms include wet outer bark and cankers or dead spots.
