  • Removal: We remove dead or dying trees for the safety of properties and offer stump grinding for a smooth lawn.
  • Plant Health Care (PHC): Our plant health care options include tree spraying for insects, tree fertilization and root stimulators, as well as other tree injections for optimal nutrients during the appropriate seasons.

Benefits of Tree Trimming

Getting your trees trimmed regularly can benefit you in the long run. This type of maintenance can help you avoid pests, disease, and property damage.

Difference Between Trimming & Pruning

While trimming and pruning are sometimes used interchangeably, there is a difference between the two. Tree pruning consists of removing dead, diseased, and damaged branches for the health of the tree. One example of this is pruning fireblight out of trees in the winter to prevent the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, tree trimming involves the removal of interfering branches, like branches growing into each other or over roofs and driveways.

Both, however, provide a neater aesthetic and help assist in the overall health of your property.

When Should I Remove My Tree?

Regular assessments of tree health are essential for maintaining the vitality of your landscape. Homeowners should consider seeking professional tree care services when they notice signs of distress in their trees. Once our arborists make a diagnosis, the decision is then up to you.

We recommend looking into getting a full removal if you notice any of the following; a hollow trunk, if the canopy is more than 50% dead, or if the tree is diseased or pest-ridden and beyond help.

A hollow trunk can leave a tree unstable, meaning it may fall at any point, leaving you with damage on your property or even a neighbor’s.

While there are treatments to help improve a tree’s canopy or assist with disease or pests, once a tree is too far gone, it’s an easier (and often cheaper) option to remove and replace rather than throw money at various treatments in hopes of aiding the tree back to health.

We don’t want to remove a tree just for the money, which is why we do more than just tree trimming and removal. We provide an array of tree services in Aurora. In certain cases, our PHC (plant health care) services can bring back that lush vibrancy to your yard.

PHC Services

Since we care more about the overall health of trees rather than just hacking away at them for a result, we offer plant health treatments to aid in root development, and ensuring your trees have the nutrients to grow properly.

  • Tree Fertilization & Stimulators: Due to Colorado’s sandy and clay soils, we offer a blend of micronutrients that help fertilize the soil for tree root development.
  • Iron Treatments: Along with needing extra micronutrients due to the soil, it’s also possible for your tree to have an iron deficiency, meaning it won’t produce enough chlorophyll- the chemical that makes a leaf turn green. But not to worry, we have a treatment for that, too.
  • Insect Sprays: Since we live in such an arid climate, the trees here don’t always have the nutrients they need, meaning they’re more prone to stress- the leading cause of pests and disease. Our insect sprays help combat these issues. Our treatments protect against the emerald ash borer, Ips beetles, aphids, and mites.

With ash trees making up 15% of Denver’s urban canopy , Emerald Ash Borers have proven to be an exceptionally dangerous pest. To ensure our ash trees are protected, ArborScape offers specialized treatments that protect against these invasive borers. Emerald ash borers are not native here in Colorado. In fact, these insects are typically seen more in Minnesota or Michigan due to their ash tree density. However, we first saw this insect arrive in Boulder County back in 2013 likely due to the transportation of ash tree firewood. While in the larva state, these borers feed under the bark of the tree, leaving the tree prone to a host of other pests and inclement weather issues, much like if we stood outside for too long without the right kind of gear. Once attacked, the tree has about 2-4 years to receive treatment before it ends up withering away. When it comes to the emerald ash borer, you’ll walk to keep an eye out for missing leaves at the top of your ash tree, vertical splits in the truck, and D-shaped exit holes. If you’ve noticed these pests in your yard, you won’t want to hesitate to call us for some professional tree spraying. If left for too long, these pests can cause irreversible damage to your trees and yard. One option we have for treatment is an annual ash borer spray. This service is typically performed in May- right before the hatching season for these pests, this way, the larvae die as soon as they try to eat. Please note that this treatment is usually for smaller trees. For bigger ash trees, we opt for a trunk injection every other year. This injection is done right after the trees have leafed out, which is usually in June. The warmer weather allows the treatment to spread more easily through the entirety of the tree. These treatments will protect against the emerald ash borer and can also act as a preventative measure. However, if the tree is too far gone, it will need to be removed before the borers can spread to more ash trees. If these borers are left too long, your tree stands no chance. If the insects haven’t eaten your tree to the point of decay, then it’ll be left susceptible to other insects or inclement weather; like when your immune system is weakened and you’re more likely to get sick. Our certified arborists can give you a free estimate to determine what sort of treatment your ash needs. We’ll take a look at the canopy and if there’s more than 45% of canopy death, we’ll recommend a tree removal so you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars just trying to save the tree only to lose it anyway. Two important things to remember! First, emerald ash borers do not affect mountain ash trees, so you don’t need to worry about this type of borer with those trees. Second, each of our spraying services are timely treatments, and can only be administered during certain times of the year. That’s why we’re starting our general insect sprays and EAB injections now, so get on our schedule asap so we can take care of your yard!
