Denver Mulch FAQs
Mulch is a protective layer of materials spread over the top of soil as a protective layer and for aesthetic purposes.
It can be made up of organic and inorganic materials. Organic materials include things like wood chips and straw, while inorganic materials include gravel and plastic. ArborScape uses all organic materials for our mulch.
With Colorado’s naturally dry climate and alkaline soils, mulch is a critical tool for plant health and soil preservation by giving your plants nutrients, and creates a protective barrier around your trees and other plants to lock in moisture and regulate soil temperatures.
Depending on the scope of your project, you’ll need to get the measurements of where you want to cover and how deep you want the layer of mulch to be.
One cubic yard covers roughly 100 square feet at about 3 inches deep.
You can also use a quick formula: Length x Width x Desired Depth ÷ 324 = Cubic Yards needed.
ArborScape gets its mulch from commercial and residential job sites here in Denver, meaning our mulch is locally sourced. Instead of dumping wood, we recycle it here at our shop.
We double-grind the wood chips and dye them ourselves to ensure a quality, eco-friendly product.
